When Applebees joined There last year, she wanted to participate in some Latino and/or Hispanic groups. She liked There enough to know that she would be here for the long haul, so she decided to form a club of her own. Latinos R Us was born!
The club's purpose is to serve as a link among various Latino cultures who wish to make contact with each other. As club leader, Applebees focuses on helping Spanish speakers understand the features of the There software in their native language. She gives them tours, creates activities, and helps them get started with the hope that, in the future, these members will have a little Spanish-speaking community to come to.
Up until now, the club has had only a few events in locations such as Bali Hai, but recently Applebees has acquired a clubhouse where she plans to host events, give classes, and allow club members to host events of their own. As Applebees puts it, "Mi casa es su casa!" Most of the members of Latinos R Us speak Spanish or are interested in Latino or Hispanic culture, but everyone is certainly welcome.
