Join us for a heap of February fun in CC Metro! From music mixer coolness to laid-back parties in the park to exciting hoverboard events for advanced and beginning riders, there's a little something for everyone. Check out the list of events below and sign up now to reserve your spot.

Getting Started: HoverBoats

Grab a group of friends for a pleasure cruise in one of the most enjoyable rides in There. Perfect for parties and tours, the HoverBoat is a five-person vehicle that lets you hang out while you're getting around! The person in the driver's seat controls the movement and speed of the HoverBoat. The passengers can control their camera angles, giving them different views of the scenery and each other while riding through the air. Whether you fly by yourself or give your friends a ride, piloting a HoverBoat helps you gain points on the Boat Captain skill ladder. Hoverboats can be controlled easily with the arrow keys on your keyboard, although Action Mode is recommended to get the most out of your experience. A variety of standard HoverBoats are available for purchase in Shop Central, and you can also find many fun and whimsical designs by our members in the There Auctions. If you are interested in learning more about HoverBoats and testing your skills at fun events, HoverBoat_Risers is the club for you!

UDU Valentine Fashion Show

You are cordially invited to the UDU 2009 Valentine Fashion Show sponsered by Unicrystal Designs. You will see new student designers and original UD Valentine Fashions and have a live performance by the Hi 5ive Dance Crew and live DJ, Drfunkmob47. Come check out the many imaginative creations from Thereian designers at this show coordinated by Unicrystal Designs and performed by Unicrystal Designs Modelling Group. Be there on Friday, February 6th, at 5:30pm Pacific at Mystical Paradise neighborhood, located in South Kansas at the Mystical Paradise Performing Arts Building.

Special BABS Event on Saturday

The BABS group is having a special event on Saturday, January 31st, at 7pm Pacific Time. This article was submitted to us by TeriG, club leader of BABS, and was written by kitte.

31st January is Day Backward. Do you understand what that means? You've flown the BABS every which way but backwards, so here's our chance to do just that on Saturday, January 31st, at 7pm Pacific. Show up with your backwards talk, backwards walk and then we'll top it off with a backwards route around the BABS. "Backwards fly not do hoverboats those that bad too way just is it." If you understood that, then you're right in the groove! Sign up here!

Club of the Week: Euro Time Focus Island Guides

Who takes care of new members who sign in to There before the sun comes up on the East Coast? The Island Guides do! They have a special subgroup to welcome new members from the time There opens until the Greeters come on duty.

The Euro Time Focus Island Guides are not all Europeans, but they are folks who like to be in There during the earliest hours of the day. Greeter_Anna helps to facilitate this group, but they operate largely on their own. You'll find these guides at the Welcome Walkway, on Zona Island, and in the other areas where we meet and greet new members. Members like Malcom_Landgrabb often help by coordinating and communicating with other Island Guides. Several of the Guides host new member vehicle events, and Rubmon, Lariat, and Kicken_It are so committed to the task that they schedule these on a weekly basis. You thought the Island Guide emblem was a ship's wheel? For this group, it is the rising sun!

Vote for the 2009 There Winter Games Logo

It's time to cast your vote for this year's There Winter Games logo! We have a contest before each There Games to give the community a chance to create the official logo. We always receive some incredible designs, and this time has been no exception. All entries have been submitted, so please vote and help us choose a winner!

To vote, click here to check out all of the entries (be sure to click "next" to view each design - there are a total of 13), then decide which you like best and submit your vote here. Voting ends on Monday, February 2nd, at Noon Pacific, so don't delay! The winner will be announced later next week. The design that receives the most votes will become the official logo of this year's There Winter Games. This design will be used on the official flags, banners and posters, as well as on the jackets for the winners. Good luck to all who entered the contest!

Renaissance Faire Design Challenge Winners!

The votes have been cast and your voices have been heard. We are pleased to announce that Soede has won first place in the Renaissance Faire Designer Challenge for her "Tudor Lady - Madder Red" design!

Virtual_Vikki took second place for her "Burgundy Princess" creation, and papau came in third with "The Knights Armor". Congratulations!  The voting was close among all the finalists (not just those who placed), and it was clear that the community had a hard time choosing a favorite. Thanks so much to everyone who participated in the challenge. We have such a creative community in There.com, and it is always exciting to see your amazing work.
