2009 Holiday Charity Drive in Support of UNHCR

We are very excited to launch our 2009 holiday fundraising effort in support of The UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR. A two-time Nobel Peace Prize winner, the UNHCR provides shelter, emergency food and water, medical care and other life-saving assistance to 32 million people worldwide who have been forced to flee their homes.

From now through December 18th, we will be accepting donations through our specially-created avatar, There_Gifts. We will also have special events like a winter carnival and a formal holiday ball to raise funds for this charity. Be sure to keep an eye on this web site in the coming days for a finalized schedule of activities and announcements about special auctions. At the end of the fundraising period, we will convert all Therebucks that have been donated to There_Gifts into US Dollars. To make a contribution directly to There_Gifts, please follow these instructions: Inside the There client, from the toolbar, select ‘My Things > Therebucks > Give’ Type in the amount of your contribution in Therebucks and select ‘Give’ A window will pop-up and ask you to choose the avatar to whom you would like to give the Therebucks. Select ‘Type In’, enter There_Gifts and select ‘OK’. A window will pop up asking you to confirm the give/transaction, select ‘Yes’ The system will then send your Therebucks contribution to There_Gifts, the special avatar we have created to facilitate this effort.

Last month, not only did we unveil a totally new look for There.com, but we also launched our first-ever video and screenshot challenge to allow you, our members, to submit material for the site. We're back again to give you another opportunity to help us show potential new members why it's so much fun to be in There.

Special BABS Event on Saturday

The BABS group is having a special event on Saturday, November 21st, at 1PM Pacific Time. This article was submitted to us by TeriG, club leader of BABS, and was written by kitte.

Look out, Thanksgiving is coming! You know what that means, don't you? "Turkeys" BABS style! Get yourself ready to gather up as many "turkeys" (BABS members) off the various BABS towers with your fastest hoverboat. The fastest turkey-herder with the most turkeys wins an original 1st-made BABS Tribute Hoverboat by DracoToro.

October Screenshot and Video Challenge Winners

After introducing our new look for There.com last month, we asked you to send us your best screenshots and videos to be featured on the new site. This was a great chance to show potential new members why it's so much fun to be in There. We were not disappointed!

Avie Challenge Events Results

A huge thanks to the more than 100 Thereians who participated in over 60 different ACE challenges and to the 18 ACE event hosts. As announced at the ACE: Celebration event last week, Katesanders IS the Ultimate Avie! Kate won the ACE Trophy and 10,000T.

Nema and LtBigDog tied for 2nd place and each won a There Trophy and 5,000T. Kelayna placed 3rd and won a There Trophy and 3,000T. Way to go, Avies! Did you miss the ACE events? Join the Avie Challenege Club to get invitations when ACE starts up again next year.

Home of the Week - November 16, 2009

One of the best parts about having a home in There, is having a There family to share it with.  Gabriellaa, beautifully touches on the special bonds that can be formed in this wonderful community of ours in her interview. She shares with us that her home is not the star of the community, but that it is her family and friends in There are what makes her home a beautiful place.
